THE SAIL ROOM

Named for the large, fresh white cotton curtains reminiscent of the sails of old boats that hang from large bamboo canes and separate the space from the rest of the house, the Sail Room has large windows running along two sides.

The floor is dark poured concrete with large slate stones, while the ceiling is made of exposed terracotta tiles.

Mosquito nets cover the two single beds with orthopedic foam mattresses and cotton sheets which can also be transformed into a double bed. The room has a small wardrobe for clothes, many colorful cushions and a mat for practicing yoga.

This bathroom, accessible from the living room and common area as well, is equipped with an electric boiler for hot showers and a large mirror covering one entire wall.

The “sails” can be drawn closed for privacy or left open during the day to maximize the panoramic view of the garden from the room and house.
